Avila Hot Pool Information
There is one hot pool at Avila Hot Springs that can comfortably accommodate more than ten people at any given time. The geothermal water for this hot pool is supplied by an underground hot spring brought to the surface by an artesian well. The water reaches ground level at over 130 degrees but is cooled by adding fresh water to approximately 104 degrees. Children younger than eight are not allowed to use the hot pool at Avila Hot Springs.
Avila Hot Springs Facilities
There are multiple options available for overnight accommodations on-site. You can rent one of the cabins that includes a queen bed, two bunk beds, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom that comfortably sleeps, four people. Cabins also include cable television, a refrigerator, and a microwave. Avila Hot Springs also offers parking for RVs up to 25 feet in length and camping sites for a true outdoor experience. There are water slides and a pool available to everyone staying at Avila Hot Springs.
Access and Usage Fees
To enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the hot springs, you can either choose just to purchase a day pass or stay overnight by renting an RV space, tent space or cabin. A day pass will grant you full access to the swimming pool and the mineral pool. Discounted day passes are available for those 55 and up and children under 15.
Seasonal Access Information
Avila Hot Springs is a year-round destination so you can visit whenever it is best suited for you. It is recommended to pre-book cabins due to seasonal availability. The facility is typically busy on weekends and during the summer and is not as busy during weekdays.
History
The hot springs were discovered accidentally in 1907 by drillers seeking to find oil. It has since been established as a natural mineral water attraction by the Budan family and is now a favorite getaway location for families who enjoy the charming waterslides and pools in addition to the thermal mineral pool at the facility. The Avila Beach region is traditionally a region known for its hot springs and was very popular in this regard in the mid to late 19th century among early Spanish and Mexican settlers and later celebrity and high net worth individuals who visited the area for the curative and healing experience provided by the minerals springs in the region.

From Pismo Beach:
Traveling on Highway 101 North, take Exit 195 to Avila Beach Drive, keep left on Avila Beach Drive to reach Avila Hot Springs in 0.3 miles.
